The event is normally a big one for Cisco resellers as Thousands of Its gather to be updated on the latest, greatest plans for Cisco. All eyes are on Chuck Robbins as this is the first Partner Summit held under His watch as the company's CEO. The event kicks off today and have seen Cisco Already make a couple of significant announcements in the data center.
This morning, Cisco announced its intention to acquired Silicon Valley , according CliQr Technologies for $ 260 million. The company of 105, allows an application -centric cloud orchestration that allows customers to model , deploy and manage all the metal , virtual and bare container environments regardless of whether the infrastructure is on site or in a private cloud or public. The technology will be used to help Cisco customers move towards a transparent hybrid cloud model where information can be moved between clouds, and resources can be provisioned in the cloud . CliQr technology is already integrated into a number of Cisco data center products, including ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure ), and Unified Computing System (UCS ).
CliQr current complete portfolio of Cisco data center well . ACI allows customers to automate the supply of data center infrastructure through policies driven infrastructure. CliQr uses an approach based on a model and is more top down and uses application or business strategies available. Cisco ACI has wide appeal with staff in traditional network operations and data center where CliQr is DevOps and the targeted application .
The acquisition of CliQr will certainly fuel the fire Cisco - VMware as main competitor is CliQr vRealize VMware cloud management suite . While the conversation trail of two providers is similar , the approach is quite different . VRealize suppose the world is centered VMware CliQr which was designed to run on multiple clouds and multiple types of clouds. CliQr works with a wide range of public and private clouds, including VMware, Pack Azure , OpenStack , Google Cloud , Amazon Web Services, Rackspace , Dimension Data , as well as specialty clouds like Microsoft Azure government.
For Cisco channel partners , the acquisition offers interesting opportunities . First and most obvious , CliQr can be used to help customers move to a hybrid cloud model composed of scalable on site, private and public clouds . Because CliQr is a " stack " solution , Cisco partners can now start a dialogue with the line of business managers, application developers and DevOps .
